Quarter ending, finally a post

Yes, it has been a while since I updated my blog!  So sorry to friends and family who possibly thought I died. So much has happened in the last month, so I will try to hit the most important details.

My students are fantastic, as usual.  They are starting to stress and panic more, because finals for first quarter are the last week in October.  I have gotten many emails and after-class conversations asking how students can make up their grade before first quarter grades are due.  It has been good getting to talk with my students individually about what they struggle with and how I can help them.

This weekend was a three-day weekend.  We had today--Monday--off, so we took advantage of the extra day and went to the island of Amapala for the day Saturday.  It was absolutely heavenly.  I keep having to remind myself that it is October and that, yes, this is real life.  My friends in the States are donning their parkas, while I am donning my swimsuit and sunglasses.  It was a wonderful way to spend the weekend before the week before finals.  Restful, relaxing, fun, and awesome.

Last weekend, we ran in Juntos Por La Cura, the Race for the Cure in Honduras.  We ran a 5K and it was hot and difficult, since I haven't been running much lately, but it was worth it!  There were four of us teachers from IST that ran the race.  Tomorrow, we are going to sign up for another race next month!  So excited!

Other than that, school has been just school!  My students took the PSAT last week, and I am one of the "coaches" for Knowledge Bowl, so that will be fun to spend time with my students after school and in February at the competition.

Besides that, school is pretty normal; just getting ready for second quarter to start.  I'll try to keep more updates coming with less time between! Until then, keep my students and me in your prayers!

Grace and Peace,
